Volunteer at Kingston University Beehive Project

Do you want to volunteer with our beehive project? We will be running our first beehive day at Kingston University on Saturday 23rd October 2021 from 10 am - 3.30 pm.

Come along, learn about hives and how we look after them, and then undertake some practical prep work as we prepare a hive for Spring 2022.

This is training for those who want to volunteer on the beehive project with our hives from Spring 2022.

Booking is essential for this free event on Eventbrite.

I'll also be keeping you up to date with the beehive project over the next year, giving you an insight into my journey as I learn about the joys of beekeeping! My name is Rachel and work with the Biodiversity Manager, Sivi at the University.

I hope you can join us for this first beekeeping day on 23rd October.

Pollenbee Hive Inspection

I did an inspection of the Pollenbee hives this morning.  The main reason for doing this is to get the data on the 60GB hard disks connected to the RPi's onto the 3TB disk on my desktop.

Anyway, got some great pics.  I've only posted a few here today, but the rest are posted on my Pollenbee blog, just follow the links.  Hope you enjoy.

Swarm ball back?

Rita, Colm and Ed spotted a swarm ball in the Apiary yesterday...

I came in this morning and they were still there.

It's hard to say where the swarm are from.  It may even be the same swarm we saw earlier in the week.  Something seems to be attractive about our site though.

There's some video on my Pollenbee Blog.
