Despite the unsettled weather today, both hives are doing well.
We currently have two hives, one of which is doing better than the other
and the bees are producing lots of honey. Both queens were spotted today, one
marked green and the other without a mark, so we added red to her abdomen to
identify her.
It was also strange to see some honey bees under one of the hives, but
split in half. One or two were still moving around despite only having just
their head and wings. We did see wasps close to another hive and they do have a
habit of cutting bees in half and carrying off the abdomens!
I will add some more photos soon, contact me if you would like to help out on any of the hive checks.
