Ably aided by Bruce, Lynsey and Paul we did our first hive check yesterday. They were very calm only needing a couple of puffs of the smoker before we opened up. The bees had not drawn out any of the foundation wax we put in last week but they were more in number and there was evidence of both honey and pollen being stored.
