12 October Maintenance Check

As the weather was fine Joseph and I did a quick check at lunchtime. All is well.

The stores are building nicely, some of the frames are very heavy, full of capped honey. It looks like they have got at least the 40lbs they need until spring. We saw the queen and lots of capped brood, there very little varroa on the board so all being well they are set fair for the winter.

As they are still taking syrup we'll add some this week but may put the bee candy in next week, they wont take it until they have exhausted their stores.

We will also install a mouse guard to stop small lodgers taking refuge. Seems harsh but they are a bee health hazard and we don't want them introducing diseases.
